Existing developer retired, and needed someone to take over. Complete system from inventory to despatch.
The problem
The owner of Anybook.com developed an Microsoft Access Database to store the books that he had for sale. This worked for many years and enabled him to travel the world whilst selling books. The database eventually became unstable and that is when the owner turned to the original developer who upgrade the database to Microsoft SQL and added a Visual Basic front end. The developer worked with the owener for over 10 years but then wanted to retire from software development.
What we did
- We met with the owner and the original developer over a curry. A meeting to make sure Mustard was the correct fit for Anybook.com
- In 2018 we started the handover process, shadowing the original developer both at their office and on site with Anybook.
- Initially, Mustard was to keep the system running, but soon realised that the hardware was tired and causing some of the issues. Budgets were tight so Mustard sourced quality used PC's and moved away from All-In-Ones
- Mustard added a mobile app so book locations could be checked
- Despatch companies started using APIs, so Mustard replaced the existing daily file uploads with realtime bookings
The solution
Mustard became both the hardware and software support team for Anybook. Taking care of both day-to-day running of the systems and upgrading processes as required.
